You might be wondering what a big shot of Behemoth's Castle Crashers is doing right in front of you. I mean I said the blog would be about games, and gaming to improve your life... so that's gotta be puzzle games, strategy games....stuff with big time depth. It's not a strategy game...it's got no puzzles...it's just a beat em up. So what's the deal?
To explain, I'm gonna talk about human development.
So we have quantifiable pieces of ourselves, such as our IQ. Then we have unquantifiable pieces such as our leadership skills, and interpersonal skills, motor skills, and so on and so forth. So what could Castle Crashers do to help develop you as a person?
The simplest, is your hand eye coordination. Pretty much any game that involves you doing an action timing wise, improves your hand eye coordination. Useful, but not many jobs require accuracy, unless your joining the military or police that is.
But, really...you might as well pick up any game to improve your hand eye coordination. What makes a beat em up like Castle Crashers special?
It's the co-op.
Teamwork, Co-operative gameplay. If you can sit and slaughter a monster with some person you've never seen before, if you can chat about how to defeat insane mode Fire Level with the Fire Demon. (Fire doesn't do much damage to Fire, hence the difficulty...) If you can successfully work together with some person who could potentinally be your most hated enemy in real life....
Well it should be obvious now. You can work with anyone, on anything.
Lots of games are missing co-op, and really..it's got to be one of the best features of a game for developing yourself.....
Still, beat em ups might not be your forte, or simply not a game you enjoy. The goal isn't to make people better by making them do stuff they hate...but instead making humanity better by having fun!
So games with Co-Op, I'd recommend :
- BattleForge
- Gears of War 1 & 2
- Halo 1 & 2 & 3

Why The ShadowWyrm's Den?
What about PvP (Competitive Player vs Player)?

Oh Fire level. How I loathe thee. Place was a pain to do as my fire demon. Still lots of fun and laughs to be had. I'm interested in what you will say about PVP. As I for one love PVP.
